What is Burn Out?

 

This is a syndrome related to chronic work related stress. It comes with feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion; increased physical and emotional distance from your job as well as mental stress and fatigue. It could be directly related to your job but can also be applied to some other areas of life as well.

 

It can also be described as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization (treating clients, students, customers or colleagues ) These cause increased feelings of worked related personal accomplishment.

 

So if it's work or school related can you feel it from happenings at home as well? Yes! If you have babies to take care of. A house to constantly clean and people that you need to please it can be overwhelming in the home as well and could be considered burn out.

  • Eat a well balanced diet ( not too much soda, beer, or fatty foods)

  • Build a professional and personal support system
  • Give yourself family or even me time.

Is Burn Out Healthy?

 

Some burn out can be very healthy. If you are more motivated because of a timeline or deadline coming up and want to accomplish that deadline it can cause enough good stress to cause you to want to accomplish the goal. But when this becomes months or even years of overwhelming feeling to constantly accomplish and never taking time for family, things that make you happy and even release of energy it can become an issue.

 

SolMany of the physical solutions can also help with the emotional and behavior, however not all physical steps are going to get you the automatic result on each category.

 

For example, if you go running for two miles you are going to have those endorphins released in your brain which is healthy. It also causes your heart to pump and beat in a healthy way making you in an emotional state of happiness or energy.

 

You also physically are building more immunity to fatigue and becoming tired all the time (along with burning some calories.) Your mind also isn't focused on your tasks at hand as much. Because your running and not thinking about your problems as much.

 

This can help both your emotional and physical burn out. It won't automatically cure your behavior, some of those things could just be inefficiency or choices and not be able to cope with these emotions in a healthy way. But you are in that moment choosing a healthy outlet. Some other behavioral issues may be just habits that need to be looked at, like constantly spending money.
